Cups Six, Seven, and Eight

I began writing The Coffee Sessions today as I sat down to my morning cuppa.
I am a writer. I get paid to write. But it is technical writing.
It took me awhile to realize and then realize this dream of writing. I guess I always wanted to be a real writer but could never be honest enough to be a good writer. So I became a technical writer. But this year the rhythms are changing.
I had a grin on my face as I started this seventh cup. It feels good to write. To slowly tentatively explore truth. Small “t” for now.
Two hours blurred between the seventh and this eighth cup. Two hours spent on understanding why I am trying to get the band back together. I am taking the last sip of the eighth as I write this.
Interlude 1 – The First Attempt at the 24/48 – NYE

I had this idea to track the last day of 2004. I decided that as a prelude to The Year of Coffee I would cover the eve. Starting at midnight on 31 December 2004 I would take a picture every half hour until the ball drops. I need to think these things through more clearly. The 30th was a work day and a long one. By the time midnight came around I was fading, little sleep that week did not help.
Here then is the first attempt at a 24/48. I made it to six a.m. when things got blurry and I went all Lost Boys. I blanked out soon after that…
Cups Nine and Ten

Cups nine and ten created a problem and the need for clarity.
Cup nine is in my work mug, a Starbucks thermal. I love this mug. It travels well and is spill resistant. The lid is difficult to secure and remove – this was remedied in the latest iteration of this mug. Here is where the problem was created. Cups one through eight were 14 fluid ounces. Cups nine and ten are 16 fluid ounces. Not an issue for The Year of Coffee, but a problem for 12 Ounce Addiction. Thus the adoption of SCMUs (Standard Coffee Measurement Unit – 8 fluid ounces).
Cup ten is another dilemma. It is still in the thermos. Does that count?
