Interlude 68 - Parade Day
Posted by Lloyd Y. Asato | Filed under Coffee Interludes
The parade started in the 1950s to celebrate the paving of downtown streets. Which, if you ask me, is as good a reason to have a parade as any. I spoke with some old time rsidents and they complain that the parade goes the wrong way. It used to start at the school and go north two blocks. Now it goes south past the school to the municipal center a mile and a half away.
Not sure what the rodeo has to do with the paving parade but really does there have to be a reason? Rodeo queens dress very Lynda Carter pre-Wonder Woman. Since they are not shooting balloons at this rodeo, I decide to pass.
This is my favorite float. Not quite Macy’s Day, but each year they pass out free burrito coupons.
