6 a.m. Coffee
Presh’s coffee order shipped yesterday. A day after we drank the last bit. I decide to pass up TJ’s fair trade organic Ethiopian for a bag of Tony’s favorite brew. What a fricking surprise. Eight O’Clock Coffee totally does not suck. This is really good coffee, yo….

jozjozjoz
I do not know where or when I first “met” jozjozjoz. I think it was on a friend’s Flickr buddy list, maybe it was because we both Metblog. I am not sure. We are not friends, not hi/bye, not MySpaceish, not really. But, I am a fan. She is smart and loves sports and can I say snarky? I am not sure if that fits but I like the sound my head makes when I write that word. If you know jozjozjoz, then you know about her Saturday and have probably, like me, been riveted, shaken, and deeply affected. Time has slowed for her. It slowed for me as I read her post. I have been where she is now too many times in my life and though we have never met, though we are two degrees apart if even that close, though I could pass her on the street and never know it. I care about her and her dad and I send them best wishes and prayers.

Unboxing the Amcor PLM14000E - In which I am easily distracted…
In which I attempt to evaluate the Amcor PLM14000E, practice the art of Unboxing and find that I really am easily distracted.
The “portable” Amcor PLM14000E arrived the other day battered and bruised by Brown but intact, mostly. I clear a section of the office. It is bigger than I thought it would be, Presh says that this is about the size of what she was expecting. The bottled water array is moved for the Unboxing event. I grab the camera…
I appreciate instructions like these. I really do. I would have ripped the top of the box open then slit down its side. I think that would have worked as well but I FTFM anyway. Notice the damage to the packing…
The unit weighs 34 kilos and the heat has made the box brittle? I try to lift it using the handles on the box but it does not want to. Is this more detail than is necessary for an Unboxing event? Discuss…
The unit looks okay. No cracks in the plastic, though the packing did not make it. It did its job and sacrificed. I now have to wait two hours so that the refrigerant can settle? I guess. It does not say but I will wait…
Presh tells me to shoot the unopened manual. I never read the manual unless it is written on the side of the box. I like to read external packaging and while I appreciate the zen of Apple packaging I am more entertained if not enlightened by MS packaging. Insert MS iPod packaging video here.
This is where it all goes wrong.
I have to wait two hours before plugging the unit in. So I Unbox the rest of the items for shooting. I play around to see how the bits likely fit together. This goes here. This fits here. I guess I need to extend this exhaust hose… whoa!
I pull the exhaust hose to extend it and it makes this Blue Man Group riff. The tone changing as I extend it. Cool. I bend and twist and extend and contract. This fricking rocks. I must film this but my camera and podcasting gear is not here. Everything stops, then the weekend and the trip to Tucson, then other projects and two hours has become a lot of days. I have not yet plugged in the unit cause I want to make my BMG video first.
Stay tuned…

Tata to Tony’s Tasty Tipple
Photo from the Tim & Tony Show website.
I thought of my dear friend, Tony today as I heard the news that Eight O’Clock Coffee was sold for 220M USD to India’s Tata Coffee. Eight O’Clock is his preferred brew or at least that is what I recall him saying. I then spent a few minutes trying to think up a t-word for coffee so that I could finish my headline. I came up with tipple.
