Interlude 26 - Gnomedex Day 1

It is another Sleepless night in Seattle. Started writing this at 3:18 a.m. local.
Burt asked me the other day, “So, why are you going to Gnomedex?”
Cause I am a fanboy.
The guys (and it is almost all guys) here are some of the coolest people doing that which cool people do. Besides I want to meet Adam and Michael and Dave.
Day 1
Gnomedex begins with a reception hosted by Google. A mixer with a hosted bar. This is how you start a conference. Cheers to Chris and Google!
Chris and his team are gracious hosts. This is what greeted me when in the parking lot.
You gotta appreciate service like that.
The attendees are the who is who of cool. The Technorati guy, the OPML guy, the Adobe guy, and of course the Podfather. Everyone here is playing it cool. Schmoozing and doing business. Me, I am fanboy! I go up to Adam and ask if he has time for a picture with a fan. The guys he is with smirk but I get my pic. Let me say that he is a very handsome man and even more gracious.
Oh look, there is the Geek News Central guy, Todd Cochrane. We chat about his new book. And I get my pic.
Oh look, there is Michael Geoghegen. I did not get a pic with him - too star struck.
Oh look, the Blogaholics, Ianiv and Arieanna. They got schwag from The Year of Coffee Blog for being Guest Cups 22 and 23.
Speaking of Canadians, there is Roland Tanglao (Guest Cup 27).
I got to hang with Spencer from TachyonXero, chat with Steve from Lornitropia, and share a beer with Jason from jasonspage.net.
The conversation usually goes like this. Me, “So, Stuart, what do you do?” Stuart, “I write a blog about the Haitian Revolution of 1791 to 1804. And you?” Me, “I, uh, do a blog about my coffee cups.”
Also had great conversation with David from PRWeb. David and I devised a practical joke that we will play on his sister. And with Mike from Adobe who does the Casdra Blog and a podcast about the Mariners (who got spanked today by the A’s).
Finally, got to chat with Ricardo the guy behind the scenes of HOT Radio and Raj of Cignex.
In four hours, Day 2 begins. Time for bed.

Thanks for the gift. We’ve just been showing everyone. Kudos for that. Great meeting you and we really should sit down and chat. Go for coffee ;)
