The cup:
Hand-thrown by Ayers Pottery in Hannibal, Missouri.
The coffee:
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters’ Finca Dos Marias Estate coffee, grown in the cloud forest of San Marcos, Guatemala. Not a high-strung, nervous Guatemalan (like you’d find in Antigua or Huehuetenango) but instead a round, very mellow profile. Its flavor offers hints of dark cherry, vanilla and root beer. Remarkable creamy body. Sweet finish. Plays well with others… ’specially vanilla bean ice cream.
I had the great fortune to visit the estate in January… a magical place. The farm-owning family is extremely progressive… putting the farm-workers first with a fabulous school, medical clinic, land grants and housing. They’ve set aside 700 acres as a bird sanctuary for the Quetzal, Guatemala’s nearly mythical (and nearly extinct) national symbol.
Good people. Good coffee.

Guest Cup 43 is from deCadmus of Bloggle: The Coffee Odyssey. TELL ME, O MUSE, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had tasted the famous brew of Boquete. I am honored to present this cup and to point you to the odyssey. Thanks for the cup.
