Guest Cup 43 - deCadmus!
deCadmus writes:
The cup:
Hand-thrown by Ayers Pottery in Hannibal, Missouri.
The coffee:
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters’ Finca Dos Marias Estate coffee, grown in the cloud forest of San Marcos, Guatemala. Not a high-strung, nervous Guatemalan (like you’d find in Antigua or Huehuetenango) but instead a round, very mellow profile. Its flavor offers hints of dark cherry, vanilla and root beer. Remarkable creamy body. Sweet finish. Plays well with others… ’specially vanilla bean ice cream.
I had the great fortune to visit the estate in January… a magical place. The farm-owning family is extremely progressive… putting the farm-workers first with a fabulous school, medical clinic, land grants and housing. They’ve set aside 700 acres as a bird sanctuary for the Quetzal, Guatemala’s nearly mythical (and nearly extinct) national symbol.
Good people. Good coffee.

Coffee Cups 465 and 466
That was an exciting race.

I got to go to Indy in 1991. The most amazing spectacle I have ever seen. 465.

You cannot imagine how fast they are going when you see it live. Unless you pick up the cars coming off the turn, they are a blur when they pass. 466.

Arie’s 1990 winning ride.

Gasoline Alley - Prepping Matsushita’s ride.

Gasoline Alley - Chatting with the old timers.

Race Day - Scott Goodyear’s ride. He had an exciting race the following year.

Race Day - Our seats were on the infield bleachers at the entrance to pit row. Rick Mears won.

Hanging with Bobby Unser. The highlight of our trip.

Interlude 24 - Bourbon Street
The Bourbon Street video.
We shot this video on our last night in NOLA. We begin on Canal Street and walk a block to Bourbon Street. The trip down Bourbon Street was a visual and aural spectacle. You had to be there.
The video is shaky, but it captured the sounds of the street (and - just for Tim and Tony - a girls gone wild moment). About 13 minutes. 26.6 MB (Quicktime)
Click the photo above or here to see the video. May take awhile to load.
