Coffee Cup 214
Good thing this is not a leap year, that may have been just enough to kill me. 214 cups since this year of coffee began. That translates into 409.25 SCMUs (standard coffee measurement units = 8 fluid ounces) or roughly 7 SCMUs of coffee a day. Or to put it another way, I have consumed 25.58 gallons of coffee to date.
That seems like a lot.
Add to that 263 cans of Pepsi One (24.7 gallons) and my YTD caffeine intake is 75.98 g.

Interlude 10 - Win a Pound of Peets
A Contest!
Here is your chance to win a pound of Peets coffee from Presh. Send her your guess as to the date and time Cup 727 will be consumed. Your guess must include the date you think Cup 727 will be consumed as well as the time - in other words will Cup 727 be the first, second, third, fourth, or fifth cup of that day. You may enter the contest beginning today and she will stop taking entries when Cup 497 has been consumed.
The winner will be the one who guesses the correct date and time Cup 727 is consumed. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the first correct entry that Presh receives.
Presh requires me to say that this is void where prohibited and that she is final authority and princess of everything related to this contest.
Entries are limited to one guess per email address (so here is a chance to stack the deck and use up all those gmail invites). A valid entry is one that is from a valid email address AND contains your guess (date and time) AND contains a picture of a Guess Cup. Get it? Guess Cup.
Presh, as final authority and princess will let you know if your guess is valid. If it is not valid she may allow you to guess again, so be nice.
Presh has determined that in order to maintain the integrity of this contest, she as final authority and princess will be the only one who knows the guesses. I will not know and as such will not let my coffee intake be influenced by graft.
The prize will consist of one pound of Peets Coffee to be ordered by Presh and sent directly to the winner. No substitutes. If there is no winner the coffee will be donated to a charity selected by Presh.
In addition to the pound of Peets, a prize pool is being created. If you have a product or service, no make that just a product, you would like to donate to be a part of the prize pool let Presh know. If it is worthy, she will include it.
To enter the contest send your guess to Presh at Presh(at)TheYearOfCoffee.com. And happy guessing!

Coffee Cups 211, 212, and 213
When I first started this site, I had to force myself to write. Part of the reason for doing a daily cup log was to force myself into the discipline of writing everyday. This has become a lot of fun, and I now find that I am needing to force myself to do other things. The log files have become my new parking lot cam.
I have tried really hard to get a new phone but each time Verizon covers it under warranty. Being responsible or rather married I am unable to justify paying for an upgrade. I want a Crackberry. 211.
Presh is reading Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, a book I got for her on one of my trips. It is a great read that I recommend. Presh is now convinced that I am mildly autistic. 212.
I am planning to do a contest - guess the consumption date of the 727th cup. Winner gets a pound of Peets from Presh plus whatever else I get donated. What do you think? 213.

Guest Cup 15 - A Piranha!
Doug writes in:
This cup is being enjoyed while working over the weekend in my 4th grade classroom. I’ve brought my battered traveling thermos mug to help me through the long afternoon. The beans are freshly ground french roast, and - hey, look! My desktop piranha has joined us. Have you ever had coffee with a piranha?

Guest Cup 15 is from Doug of Mr. Lott’s CIOS 275 class and Borderland. Thank you Doug, 10 points for you. As for your question, the answer is not yet…
